Regional Civil Society Forum on the National Security Sector Reform Process (SSR) in Mali
The first Civil Society Forum on the National Security Sector Reform Process (SSR) in Mali was organized with the Citizens' Coalition of Civil Society (Coalition Citoyenne de Société Civile in French, CCSC-PURN), partner of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Mali. Around 40 participants from civil society organizations in the six municipalities of the capital of Bamako were brought together to discuss the topic.
The various participants have better identified security issues and the security sector reform process in Mali. Through question-answer-contribution sessions with M. Boubacar SOKONA, Expert at the National Office for Security Sector Reform in Mali they had the opportunity to make contributions as well as recommendations.
It is important to highlight that this Forum is the first in a series of five forums planned in Bamako, Kayes, Sikasso, Mopti and Gao initiated as part of the regional project "Security for All" co-funded by the European Union in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. The forums aim to strengthen/support Security Sector Reforms with the aim of increasing civil society involvement in the security sector reform processes.
The various recommendations from the regional forums will be incorporated into a final report that will serve as an advocacy tool for the involvement of civil society in the SSR process.
