Regional Civil Society Forum on the Security Sector Reform (SSR) process in Mali

On Friday 09th April 2021, the third regional civil society conference on the SSR process in Mali as part of the regional project 'Security for All' co-funded by the European Union in partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung took place in Gao.

The forum which was organized by the "Coalition Citoyenne de la Société Civile pour la Paix, l’Unité et la Réconciliation Nationale (CCSC-PURN)", partner of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung / Mali Office, focused on the issue of the involvement of civil society leaders in the Gao region. in the national security sector reform process. The forum intended to be a place for information, exchanges and contributions between the participants, members of the CCSC-PURN and other CSOs.

The presentations and the working group sessions facilitated by Mr. Boubacar SOKONA, an Expert the National Security Sector Reform Commission in Mali. These guided participants to discuss and formulate contributions / recommendations that will be integrated into a final civil society positioning document on SSR. It will serve as an advocacy tool for the involvement of civil society in the Security Sector Reform process.

It is important to note that this Forum is organized as part of the regional project 'Security for All' co-funded by the European Union in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and aims to strengthen/support security sector reforms by involving more civil society in the process.
