The workshop, which lasted three days, brought together about thirty participants from Ebolowa, involved in the defense of human rights. The participants were trained by the team led by Barrister Agbor Balla, President of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa on the various aspects related to the exercise of human rights in the African context in general and Cameroon in particular. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the capacities of defenders, activists and journalists working in the defense of human rights.

To this end, the training focused on the presentation of the international, continental and national framework for the protection of human rights defenders, the different categories of defenders, the different physical and digital strategies for the personal protection of defenders, as well as the means of recourse to international organizations for defenders. In addition, the sharing of experiences by the different participants on the difficulties encountered and the strategies adopted enriched the quality of the training.

This training workshop follows five other workshops for defenders from the West, the North West, South West, Littoral and Central regions. They are implemented on the basis of the Guide on the physical protection and online security of human rights defenders produced within the framework of the regional project "Security for All" co-financed by the European Union in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and aims to strengthen/support security sector reforms in order to increase the involvement of civil society in security sector reform process.
