International Conference on Regional Security Policy in Africa

Effective regional cooperation for peace and security needs less focus on military intervention capacities, and more focus on capacities for political mediation and for support of democratization processes – this was one of many arguments developed at the conference that brought together security policy experts, policy makers and civil society activists from Africa and Europe.

The conference analyzed the current role and prospects of the AU and RECs in crisis management and discussed future priorities of German and European support of the African Peace and Security Architecture.
