Fuelling the World – Failing the Region? Oil Governance and Development in Africa’s Gulf of Guinea

Countries in the Gulf of Guinea belong to those richest in resources yet poorest in development, stability and governance. Moving beyond the traditional concept of the ‘resource curse’ this edited volume analyses from numerous angles the relation between resource wealth, citizens’ welfare, economic growth, probability of conflict and democratic governance.

The authors highlight best practices in resource governance from within and outside of the region and propose innovative approaches to support the translation of resource wealth into welfare and peace. Only available in English.
