Validation workshop in Ouagadougou

The national validation of the study focusing on security challenges and issues in Burkina Faso was held in Ouagadougou on July 21, 2016. The workshop took place on the premises of the Centre pour la Gouvernance démocratique (CGD), a Burkinabe think tank.

The expert participants felt that the issue of the Koglweogo self-defence groups should be explored in greater detail. Furthermore, it was also suggested that the author of the study, Dr. Emile Ouédraogo, should draft recommendations on a policy aimed at securing the borders and that the recommendations could be tied in with the “Border Country” concept put forward by Alpha Oumar Konaré when he was Chairman of the African Unio
